Oppose San Antonio ISD Policy That Will Allow Boys in Girls’ Bathrooms – Sign the Petition!

San Antonio ISD has approved a new school policy that could allow boys into the girls’ showers, restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, and possibly even sports teams.

The new policy adds “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” and “gender expression” (these special protections do not exist in state law) to the current non-discrimination policy. The policy appears to apply to faculty, staff, and students. The new policy will also apply to instances of “accommodation” and decisions about use of bathroom, showers, and locker rooms.

We believe that San Antonio ISD did not give parents and citizens adequate notice about these changes to the non-discrimination policy. When the changes were mentioned as an agenda item, there was not enough information about what the changes would be, nor was there specific reference to the words that would be added (“sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” and “gender expression”) to the current school policy:
