CHARITABLE GIVING DOWN
The number of Americans who have donated to charity in the past year dropped to an all-time low. According to Gallup, only 73% of Americans donated to a charitable organization in the past year, dropping below the previous low of 79% during the Great Recession.
In a typical year, 80% or more report making a charitable gift. Gallup noted: “Although the donation and volunteering questions ask about activity over the past 12 months, it is possible many respondents may be answering only about their current or very recent activity.”
