SAN ANTONIO FAMILY ASSOCIATION

Protecting, defending, and promoting the family, the Building Block of Society

BISHOP JOHN W. YANTA Oct. 2, 1931 – Aug. 6, 2022

In celebrating Bishop Yanta and his life of love and service to our Lord and His Bride, we celebrate even more so the Solemn Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord.

It’s also a 1st Saturday which is dedicated to honoring Jesus’ mom, and our Blessed & Heavenly Mother, Mary.

Additionally, it’s also a special day for Texas.

Today is the memorial feast day of Venerable Fr. Antonio Margil, patron and apostle of Texas as declared by Pope Gregory XVI on August 6, 1836, the year of Texas independence. This heroic Servant of God established two of the Missions in San Antonio including the queen mission, Mission San Jose in the early 1700s.

And, it’s the 11th birthday of the San Antonio Family Association (SAFA) of which Bishop Yanta was the first spiritual adviser.

In summary, it’s the:

-Solemn Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord
-a 1st Saturday honoring our Lady Mary, mother of Jesus
-The feast of the patron & apostle of TX, Fr. Antonio Margil (declared Aug 6, 1836 by Pope Gregory XVI)
-11th birthday of SAFA
-heavenly birth of Bishop John W Yanta by God’s grace, who was SAFA’s original spiritual adviser

Let us pray for Bishop John W. Yanta’s soul, his family and friends. May this be a time of individual unity with Jesus for each of them and thereby a great time of family unity.

May Jesus forgive him of any sins, grant him mercy and enthusiastically introduce him to The Father!!!

May his patron Saints, St. Mary, mother of God, St. Joseph, and St. John the Baptist pray and intercede for him.

May we desire & resolve to live a life of holiness, like Bishop Yanta, to keep Texas for God.

May Bishop Yanta intercede and help each of us, and especially SAFA in accomplishing its mission.

He can help us more now than ever. Let us put in to work asking for his prayers and intercession.

Glory be to God!

Blessed Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus, pray for us.

A Cloud of Witnesses

CCC 2683 The witnesses who have preceded us into the kingdom,41 especially those whom the Church recognizes as saints, share in the living tradition of prayer by the example of their lives, the transmission of their writings, and their prayer today. They

contemplate God, praise him and constantly care for those whom they have left on earth. When they entered into the joy of their Master, they were “put in charge of many things.”42 Their intercession is their best most exalted

service to God’s plan. We can and should ask them to intercede for us and for the whole world.

41 Cf. Heb 12:1.
42 Cf. Mt 25:21.

Then the kingdom of heaven shall becompared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.
