OPTIMISM DURING PANDEMIC
New York Times science and health reporter Donald G. McNeil, Jr., was surprised that America’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic is apparently unfolding faster than experts had anticipated. McNeil admitted that “I have been a consistently gloomy Cassandra” and that “the record for developing a vaccine was four years.” But he said: “Experts are saying, with genuine confidence, that the pandemic in the United States will be over far sooner than they expected, possibly by the middle of next year.”
