Action Alert: Support The Burial Of Children Lost To Abortion!

The new law modifies Texas Administrative Code §1.136, which already included interment as one of three possible ways to dispose of children lost through abortion or miscarriage. The revision only removes the other two options: “deposition in a sanitary landfill;” and “grinding and discharging to a sanitary sewer system.”

Texas abortion facilities will no longer be allowed to throw aborted babies’ bodies in landfills or down the garbage disposal. Instead, they will be required to bury or cremate them.

Several of the Center for Medical Progress’s undercover videos show Texas abortionists trafficking fetal body parts. Now, instead of being able to profit from aborted babies’ bodies, Texas abortion centers will have to pay to have them cremated or buried. The HHS department has said the cost of burying or cremated aborted babies will be no more than what abortion facilities already pay to dispose of them as “medical waste.”

The new law honors the humanity of each child and gives the baby the dignity he or she deserves.

We ask you to express your support for these rules in the following ways:

(1) Give testimony and share any personal involvement or experience you have with the burial of children before birth.

A public hearing will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on December 11, 2017, in the Brown-Heatly Building, Public Hearing Room, Health and Human Services Commission, 4900 N. Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78751. If the time allotted does not accommodate the number of individuals registered to speak, HHSC will extend the public hearing until no later than 5 p.m. on December 11, 2017 to accommodate as many registrants as possible.

(2) Contact HHSC with your written comments on the rules.

I support the implementation of the new state regulations that require the interment of the remains of all children who are lost through abortion or miscarriage at a healthcare or abortion facility. These rules validate the dignity of those unborn babies whose lives are unfortunately lost to abortion or miscarriage. The bodies of these children should not be treated like medical waste. These rules are long overdue and it is imperative to establish higher standards that reflect our respect for the sanctity of life.
