Trump publicly spars with Republicans over concealed carry, NRA influence at school safety session

Trump angers NRA and many Texans.

President Trump met with a bipartisan group of lawmakers and publicly challenged the NRA. Trump said he favored getting rid of bump stocks and raising the age of purchasing rifles to 21 from 18.

He even suggested that he supported a return of the so-called assault weapons ban. Trump said: “I’m a big fan of the NRA. These are great people, these great patriots. They love our country. But that doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything.”
