Republicans hope a challenge to Iowa’s fetal heartbeat bill will overturn Roe v. Wade
Iowa passes major pro-life bill.
The Iowa Legislature has passed a Heartbeat Bill which would ban abortions as soon as a fetal heartbeat is detected, or roughly around the sixth week of pregnancy.
Iowa Republicans say they’re unafraid of a legal challenge if Gov. Kim Reynolds signs the bill.
“It is time for the Supreme Court to weigh in on the issue of life. It has taken decades for the science to catch up to what many have believed all along: that she’s a baby,” said Iowa State Rep. Shannon Lundgren.
