ACTION ALERT: Contact San Marcos CISD And Attend The October 16 Board Meeting
The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees appointed conservative Naomi Narvaiz to the district School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) at the September Board Meeting. A group called Mano Amiga has launched a campaign to remove her from the council at the next Board Meeting. Mano Amiga, Texas State University College Democrats, and other left wing groups and members have engaged in name-calling and intimidation to demonize Naomi Narvaiz and silence supporters.
The SHAC is a health and wellness citizen committee with the mission to coordinate, educate, and support district and community efforts that will promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students, staff, and families. Texas school districts have SHACs in compliance with Texas Education Code 28.004 to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district’s health education instruction. The San Marcos Consolidated ISD SHAC has planned four meetings for the school year, and one meeting took place on September 20th. According to the SHAC End of the Year Report 2016-2017, the 2017-2018 SHAC’s focus will include:
- Increase Suicide Awareness and Prevention
- Human Development (Sex Education)
- Increase health and fitness in the district
- Emergency Procedures (First response, CPR/FA/AED lists, Minor emergency, safe place to be, educate the parents)
- Social Media
- Employee Wellness resources

Sample letter to the SAISD School Board:
Dear ,
I am writing to voice my support of Naomi Narvaiz’ appointment to the School Health Advisory Council.
A radical left group is claiming that Ms. Narvaiz’ political views make her unfit to serve on the SHAC. This is not true. Ms. Narvaiz is committed to upholding the SHAC’s the mission to coordinate, educate, and support district and community efforts that will promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students, staff, and families. Ms. Narvaiz is being targeted for her conservative views and the call for her removal has nothing to do with her ability to serve on the council.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizen

We believe her comments are disgusting and way beyond a reasonable political dialogue. She should be kept far away from our childrens’ innocent minds.
