Amy Barrett’s Faith and the Growing Support
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, denounced the Washington Post for publishing a story about Amy Coney Barrett’s affiliation with a Catholic charismatic group called People of Praise. McConnell said: “The secular left says they’re for progress, but they’ve just wandered back into the embarrassing tropes of the 1960s, when some argued John F. Kennedy would obey the Pope over the national interest.”
With the questioning of her nomination, comes a growing support. A new poll found growing support for confirming Amy Coney Barrett. A Morning Consult poll found 46% of Americans supported confirming her as quickly as possible, an increase of 9 points. Just 31% say the Senate should reject her nomination, a drop of 3 points from the previous poll.
