‘No longer an emergency’: Trudeau revokes controversial emergencies act

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Wednesday he is revoking the extraordinary emergency powers he invoked to crack down on demonstrations against the government’s draconian COVID-19 mandates and restrictions. “The situation is no longer an emergency, therefore the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act,” Trudeau said. The decision came amid numerous legal threats and a widespread outcry against the prime minister.
