CDC LOWERS CHILD DEVELOPMENT STANDARD
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has quietly changed the standards for early childhood speech development. Whereas previously the CDC said that children should know at least 50 words at 24 months, it now says children should reach the same vocabulary milestone at 30 months. The CDC made the change amid widespread claims – aggressively dismissed by government officials – that masking and other government restrictions have harmed children’s development since 2020.
