Concerned Mother Files Complaint Regarding Indecent Billboard Ad

A concerned San Antonio mother of three children, who has been inspired by SAFA to engage in the public square for the protection of her daughter and all other children from indecent advertisements specifically breast augmentation, has filed a complaint against at the Texas Medical Board regarding a large billboard advertisement at the intersection of I-410 and I-10 W toward El Paso.

The sign features a large picture of a scantily clad model wearing a yellow bikini and showing off her large breasts with the word “aug-men-ta-tion” on it. The original billboard made no mention that the model was an actor and not a real patient, which violates Article 9 of the TMA’s Regulation of Physician Advertising.  Later, the words “model used” were added in small letters that are unreadable when driving on the highway.

In her complaint, the mother states “I feel the sign is very unprofessional, in bad taste and reflects poorly on the medical profession.  I drive past the sign every day when driving my two young daughters and preteen son to school and this has made all of us uncomfortable. This type of advertising does not set a good example of modesty for the children and youth in our community”.

The case has been referred to the Litigation Department of the Board and has been set for a hearing on 04/12/2017, at 10:30 AM in Austin, Texas.
