FILIBUSTER IS RACIST?
A filibuster requires controversial legislation in the Senate to receive a 60-vote supermajority and has been used by both parties when they’ve been in the minority. But House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-SC, tried to suggest that any use of the filibuster would be racist because it was used to kill the 1957 Civil Rights Act. Clyburn, who is black, said if Republicans “use the filibuster to deny a minimum wage increase, it will be tantamount to using it to deny civil rights.”
