Groups call for an overhaul of sex-ed curriculum in Texas

Texas #AbstinenceSexEd Under Attack

A new report analyzing sex education in Texas says challenges remain in Texas classrooms when it comes to teaching this topic and groups are calling for an overhaul of the state’s #Health curriculum.

More than half of Texas public school districts teach #Abstinence-only #SexEducation, according to a report by the #TexasFreedomNetworkEducationFund (started in Texas by #CecileRichards, past president of #PlannedParenthood)
and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States.

Around a quarter of public school districts don’t teach sex education and 16% of them teach “#AbstinencePlus”, (code words for #Contraception) sex education.
