Honoring Matriarchs Who Loved Their Families: Patricia Locke and Joyce Clemens Gonzalez

True femininity, designed by God, graced these beautiful women that have had some very profound influences on their families, friends and all their participation in our city of San Antonio.

They will be dearly missed but their memories and the apostolic zeal they had remains in all of us. May they rest in peace.

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised..” —Proverbs 31:27–30
Obituary of Patricia McMahon Tollette
On July 16, 2018, Patricia Locke (McMahon) Tollette was received into the Lord’s embrace and reunited with her son Ted, surrounded by many of her loving family. Born April 26, 1939 in San Antonio, TX to George and Helen McMahon, Pat grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where she attended Incarnate Word High School. While attending San Antonio College, she fell in love with her future husband, Maurice P. “Nard” Tollette, Jr. She raised her four boys Trey, Tim, Ted, and Terry, and had a career in residential real-estate spanning two decades.

Her love of family, friends and the water led them to buy a lake house at LBJ where many joyful memories were made while the boys were growing up. When Trey, their oldest, entered Texas A&M University, their passion turned from the lake to football weekends in College Station. They were lifelong Aggie fans. In later years, their tradition of being near the water was continued with the boys and their families as they spent many joyful summer vacations together at both Lake LBJ and the Texas coast. In her retirement, Pat and Nard developed a love for bay fishing and enjoyed many weekends with her boys and grandchildren, in which many indelible / “questionable” memories where formed.

During retirement, her free time was spent with family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow, playing bridge, and traveling. She was involved in numerous organizations at St. Mark’s Catholic Church including ACTS, Women’s Guild and most recently the quilting ministry. She was an avid quilter and ‘Longarmer,’ and touched many lives through both the St. Mark’s and Coker UMC quilting guilds. Pat’s hospitality was well-known, as she had many honorary grandchildren who called her Granny Pat. She was welcoming to all who visited her home most specifically for Christmas Eve and 4th of July celebrations.

Pat will be forever remembered by her husband of 59 years, Nard and their sons, Maurice P. III “Trey” (Jennifer), James Timothy (Vicki), Michael Terrance (Allyson) and daughter-in-law Janet Kent Tollette Gloger (Ted’s widow) and her husband Danny. She will also be remembered by her thirteen grandchildren; Reese, Reagan, Ted, Tanner, and Ty Tollette, Garrett and Grant Tollette, Allie, Mitch and Wes Tollette, Stephanie and Kent Tollette and Dusty Gloger (Janet’s stepson) whom Pat welcomed as a grandson. She is also survived by her brother David McMahon (Jeannette), sisters-in-laws Dahlyn Harrold, Mary Hart Casey (Madison), brother-in-law Jim Tollette (Shelley) and their children and grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by her father George Breen McMahon, mother Helen Francis (Locke) McMahon, her son Ted Breen Tollette.

Monsignor Kevin Ryan will officiate. Memorial donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org.

Expressions of sympathy and online condolences may be offered to the family by signing her online guestbook at: www.sunsetnorthfuneralhome.com
