SAISD Adds Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity to Non-Discrimination Rules

San Antonio ISD has approved a new school policy that could allow boys into the girls’ showers, restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, and possibly even sports teams.

The new policy adds “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” and “gender expression” to the current non-discrimination policy. The policy appears to apply to faculty, staff, and students.

San Antonio parents who are blindsided by this should contact their school board members and request a chance to be heard.

The changes in the policy can be traced back to Texas House Republican leaders — Speaker Joe Straus and Chairman Byron Cook – who actively blocked efforts to schedule the Texas Privacy Act for a vote in the regular and special sessions of the Texas Legislature. Straus and Cook acted not only against the Republican party platform but the will of a majority of Texans as well.

The tool the left wants to push on us (even though they don’t practice it well) is tolerance.

Tolerance is a form of condoning another’s speech or actions by our lack of response. Tolerance can be a sin of omission for Christians who are compelled to speak up when someone’s soul is in jeopardy, i.e. a mortal sin being committed. Tolerance might even be a form of adulation which is a false complement.

As Christians, we respect the fact that all people are created by God and deserve our respect and dignity as a human being, as imperfect as we are, we should show real solidarity in the human experience with these broken people. We are broken also, but not broken in the same way and lifestyle choice. Their alternative lifestyle is offensive to our Lord, just like adultery or fornication is a choice for heterosexuals and is offensive to our Lord also.

Tolerance is not a Christian virtue, it is simply a temporary false state of acceptance or perceived acceptance. So, we are asked to suppress our beliefs, and bite our tongues in name of civility, however, we are not being honest with ourselves and worse, we may scandalize faithful people around us (family and friends) into believing that acceptance of these behaviors are okay.

The real virtues we seek are authenticity, care, love of neighbor (their well-being and disposition of their soul), charity, self-control, honesty and truth that is perfectly compatible with love.

We must be more magnanimous and have true rectitude of intention dealing with this “inclusive” narrative. I submit that we can say “we are more than inclusive, we are loving in the truth.” The real hard part is now to convince ourselves that we will do everything we can to truly help these lost souls, even if it means to befriend them and love them for the created person God meant them and all of us to be.
