The U.S. bishops are considering a vote in June on whether to publish a document on the question of offering Communion to Catholic politicians who support legal abortion. Such a document was first proposed by a short-term working group launched in November by (former of San Antonio) Archbishop Jose Gomez, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
