The Humility of Silence
Some of us are chatterboxes. Some of us have normal use of words in ordinary moments, but really let our tongues go in moments of anger or stress.
Silence isn’t often encouraged in the predominant culture that is hyper-focused on telling us to “be heard, use your voice, and speak your truth.” But silence is powerful, and it is humbling.
Its purpose is not simply to tame and restrict ourselves, but to make room for something even better. This reflection helps us understand the goodness, the humility, and the purpose of silence.
