TONIGHT: Oppose San Antonio ISD Bathroom Policy At Board Meeting

San Antonio Independent School District is meeting tonight. We encourage you to attend and/or contact the school board to revoke the new “nondiscrimination policy”.

SAISD has rushed to enact a dangerous new policy that allows boys access to girls’ showers, lockers, and bathrooms — and vice-versa.

We need parents, students, and taxpayers to attend TONIGHT’S school board meeting at 5:30 PM (more details below) to express their concern that this new policy opens the door to allow students and employees to access the showers, locker rooms, and bathrooms of the opposite sex. The school board MUST put this item on the official agenda for the next board meeting so the board members can make it known to the public the reason and need for this new policy.

The new policy adds “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” and “gender expression” (these special protections do not exist in state law) to the current non-discrimination policy. The policy appears to apply to faculty, staff, and students, and it applies to instances of “accommodation” and decisions about use of bathroom, showers, and locker rooms.

We believe that SAISD did not give parents and concerned citizens sufficient notice about this issue. The agenda item did not provide adequate detail, nor did it give specific reference to the new words that were added to current school policy.

Here is how you can take action:

Sample letter to the SAISD School Board:

Dear ,

I am writing to express my concern for the SAISD Board of Trustees poor choice to unanimously vote to expose girls to naked boys in showers and other facilities.

Your decision goes against common sense and the wisdom of risk avoidance that is utilized when promoting no drinking, no smoking, no texting and driving, etc. Actually, your decision will put girls at risk of pubescent boys and reduce the importance and benefit of the virtue of modesty.

Before it’s too late and someone gets hurt by your bad choice, delay the implementation of your decision until you can get public input from parents and other concerned citizens. You’ve made a politically correct decision, not one based on science and reason or what’s good for the students.

Sincerely,

Concerned Citizen
