Trump reinstates Reagan’s Pro-Life “Mexico City Policy”

On January 24th, 2017 President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating the pro-life “Mexico City Policy”, which was first signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. The Mexico City Policy had been rescinded by presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. This policy prohibits U.S. foreign aid from going to overseas, non-governmental organizations (such as International Planned Parenthood) to provide or promote abortion. The policy also directs the Secretary of State to work with the Secretary of Health and Human Services to apply this prohibition to all global health assistance funding. This would apply, for example, to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) that has supported coerced abortions under China’s one-child-per-family program.

This was a great step towards reinstating a culture of life in our country. White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Monday that President Donald Trump has “made it very clear that he’s a pro-life president.”
