Congressman Lamar Smith to Speak at the October 15 Press Conference

PRESS CONFERENCE 12:15 P.M. OCTOBER 15, 2015 AT 2140 BABCOCK RD 78229

IN A MOVE VALIDATING THE CENTER FOR MEDICAL PROGRESS VIDEOS, PLANNED PARENTHOOD ABRUBTLY STOPS ACCEPTING PAYMENT FOR FETAL TISSUE. This act appears to be politically motivated and done in hopes of halting the efforts in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. The reality of Planned Parenthood’s profiting off the sell of human body parts has put the spotlight on the true nature of abortion. No longer can it be said that HUMAN BEINGS aren’t being killed during an abortion since HUMAN BODY PARTS are admittedly being collected and up until today’s announcement, sold for profit, much like human beings in a past generation were sold as slaves and dehumanized by a legal decision of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court was the body responsible for making abortion legal and the ruling in Roe led to the trafficking of human body parts and more importantly the deaths of over 57 million children. In recent years, the Court has ruled favorably to laws protecting women’s health, requiring informed consent for an abortion and adding protections for unborn life. Will the Court continue this trend in hearing challenges to Texas’ HB2 and other laws requiring higher standards of care and limitations on abortion during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters when a baby is viable outside the mother’s womb? Or will they trend back toward Roe reasoning and adopting a Dred Scott view of personhood regarding the preborn.

Addressing the issue of abortion and the progress being made in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood, will be U.S. Representative Lamar Smith. Congressman Smith, unlike some others in the U.S. House and Senate from the San Antonio area, voted against the resolution, which continued to fund the government (including Planned Parenthood).

Sadly, Councilman Ron Nirenberg, District 8, and our “pro-life” Mayor are playing politics with the Planned Parenthood zoning issue and hiding behind an opinion by a City-hired attorney unauthorized to practice law in the state of Texas and who stated he was hoping to begin doing more business with the CoSA. Proper action would be for the City Council to hear the issue pursuant to the City’s Building Related Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board’s July 30th resolution and allow the Residents of Dreamhill Estates and concerned Citizens to be heard, since Planned Parenthood snuck into their neighborhood under an assumed name, thereby denying them a fair hearing on the matter. But then again, the Mayor and other members of the Council have received contributions from Planned Parenthood executives and/or its major donors.
