Louisiana lawmakers failed to override the veto of a bill banning biological males from competing in women’s sports. The Louisiana Senate voted to overturn the veto on Tuesday, but the Louisiana House came two votes short of the two-thirds vote needed.

Gov. John Bel Edwards, D-LA, recently vetoed legislation that would prevent biological males from competing on high school and college sports teams designated for females. The Louisiana Senate has voted to override the veto on a 26-12 vote. The Louisiana House planned to start the debate Wednesday.
