Marginalized Groups Opting for Suicide in Canada

Canadian food bank clients and disabled retirees facing financial insecurity are now considering doctor-assisted suicide to avoid living in poverty.

“Based on the definitions in the Canadian law, nearly anyone with a chronic medical condition, such as people with disabilities, can be approved for euthanasia,” lamented Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition.
