RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Lawmakers in Arkansas last week passed a proposed constitutional amendment that would add religious freedom protections to their state constitution. To take effect, the proposal must be approved by voters in the statewide 2022 November elections. Lathan Watts writes about why such state amendments are needed: “Despite a recent string of victories at the U.S. Supreme Court that primarily protected the rights of the faithful to gather to worship even during a ‘crisis,’ for too many judges and politicians, the First Amendment just isn’t what it used to be.”
