A federal judge has ruled that a lawsuit against a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis can proceed. But religious freedom lawyers representing Catholic schools said the Constitution protects their right to hire teachers consistent with their mission. “If the First Amendment means anything, it means the government can’t punish the Catholic Church for asking Catholic educators to support Catholic teaching,” said Luke Goodrich, senior counsel at Becket.
