TAXPAYER FUNDING OF ABORTION
The U.S. bishops denounced the House’s passage of a large spending bill without customary pro-life protections like the Hyde Amendment, which prevents taxpayer funding of most abortions. “The House has voted in a way that is completely out of step with the will of the American people who overwhelmingly oppose taxpayer-funded abortion,” said Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York and Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, KS, in a joint statement.
